Hello Friends & Family of the Revolution Community,
This Town (2 Chronicles 7:14):
We are working through series at the Revolution Community titled “This Town”. We believe that is time for us to become obedient to God where he can heal our town! Use this weekly devotional to supplement the message from each Sunday night or to join in us in praying for our town! Also, please join us for our collective prayer time each week. At that time, just say a short prayer for our town no matter where you are or what you’re doing! If you do not attend youth at OGUMC, we invite you to use this devotional with us and also come join us on Sunday night during the spring to check out this series!

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
“This Town – This World”
This weekend prior to CG many of our youth participated in our annual 30-hour famine. This is a humbling process where we are able to fast for thirty hours in order to raise money and to pray for those that starve daily around the world. As a result, I could think of no better way to spend our community groups’ period than focusing on our world as well. As we have been discussing the past few weeks, we are called to be effective witnesses through “This Town”; however, it would be shallow of us to think that we also aren’t part of “This World” as well. As we fasted this past weekend, we run across many troubling statistics such as that 30,000 children die of hunger daily, 22,000 die from poverty conditions daily, and that there are 27 million slaves still in the world today. When it comes to our world, then it is important to remember that we still serve a great God of justice. It is his desire to see all these problems fixed, but we have to understand that we are his plan to do that! There is no back up plan either. We must make these causes and people a priority instead of a side thought. You may ask how could I ever help those that are struggling so far away? Insert Ephesians 3:20. Paul issues a bold statement here. All of our serving and efforts to change this world are directed to a God who is able to do IMMEASURABLY more than we could even ask or imagine. You can’t put God and what He can do in a box. Please do your part and what you can do for the people of the world and then let God does his immeasurably more part and great things are going to happen! But always remember- we are the plan. We must be able to look back over the course of our lives and say, “We showed up and we showed up on time!”

Questions for thought:
1. When you hear statistics like 30,000 children die daily of hunger, how does that me you feel?
2. If you could do something about that, would you?
3. Can you think of examples in the Bible of God being a God of justice?
4. How does it make you feel knowing that we are God’s plan to help those that are hurting around the world? (Ex: Nervous, Entitled, fulfilled..)
5. How does Ephesians 3:20 change things for our mission efforts and us?
This week’s prayer focus is our world. Be creative-pick a country and pray for it and or just pray for the many injustices in the world such as poverty, hunger, and slavery.
