Adult Volunteer Opportunities

           The youth ministry at Oak Grove UMC thrives in large part due to our incredible volunteer team.   As our youth ministry continues to grow, we are hopeful that our volunteer team will as well.  Please read about the different ways in which you can get involved below, and if you are interested in volunteering, email the listed contact person for that volunteer area.  


Caring for Clarkston (C4C) Pantry Leadership Team

Be a part of the monthly planning sessions focused on the various areas running a pantry: greeter, interviewer, children’s ministry area, food packaging area, food runner.  Contact: Davis Cook at

Caring for Clarkston (C4C) Food Pantry Helper 

Assist with sorting food and preparing boxes to be taken to Clarkston United Methodist Church (CUMC). Assist in distributing the food at CUMC once a month on the scheduled Saturday.  Contact: Davis Cook at

Christmas Tree Lot Shift Leader 

Work a shift(s) at the Youth Annual Christmas Tree Lot (begins the day after Thanksgiving and continues until all trees are sold).  Work alongside the youth community building relationships and having fun selling trees. 3 – 4 hour shifts available.  Contact: Davis Cook at

Confirmation Friend in Faith 

Invest in the life of an 8th grade youth by journeying beside him/her as he/she goes through the 4 month Confirmation process.  4 months (January – April) on Sunday mornings in the Youth building and various other activities (service project, bowling, and attending a Church Council meeting).  Contact: Caroline Paris at 404-636-7558 x 203,

Disciple Group (“D” Group) Leader 

Co-lead a small group of about 10-15 students.  As each disciple group consists of students of the same gender and similar ages, they cultivate lasting friendships and transformational faith.   3 hours a week in preparation and meeting time.  Contact: Caroline Paris at 404-636-7558 x 203,

Meal Team

Join one of 12 Youth Food Ministry Teams and help serve breakfast at Java Hut on Sunday mornings and dinners on Sunday nights. 1 ½ hours on Sunday mornings serving 70-100 youth. 3 hours on Sunday nights serving 125-150 youth. Contact: Robyn Giles at 404-636-7558 x 202,

Sunday School (“Java Hut”) Teacher 

Work with 6th, 7th, 8th, or High School age youth on Sunday mornings in the Youth building.  2-3 hours per week including preparation time and teaching time.  Contact: Caroline Paris at 404-636-7558 x 203,

Youth Bus Driver 

Drive one of the church buses for various youth outings and activities.  Hours depend on activity and outing.  Contact: Robyn Giles at 404-636-7558 x 202,
